We are looking for some amazing volunteers to help out at the aid stations and support these incredible riders during this unique ride that travels through the river valleys and hoodoos in Drumheller, Alberta (the land of the dinosaurs).

Volunteers will be right in the action all day!

ABSOLUTELY! Road bikes and triathlon bikes are the most common bikes out there but, a pathway bike, mountain bike or an ebike are all more than welcome! We also welcome tandom bikes with permission from the race director.
*ebikes are not eligible for KOM or QOM awards.

TCR will be providing mechanical support on race day. They will be on-site race morning for any last minute mechanical issues prior to the start. They will also be providing on-course support for cyclists stranded road side getting them back up and riding again!

Do love climbing hills? @granfondobadlands loves them too! That's why we have a "KING and QUEEN of the Hill" awards!!
There are two climbs to challenge yourself with and then we combine the times of both climbs to determine the KOM/QOM !!
⛰Those riding 140/162 km are eligible for prizes (top 3 KOM/QOM combined times) but everyone will get the first hill climb time recorded.

First climb – right out of the Ferry on the return trip to Drum. This climb is a slap in the face – you will see short bits of 12% grade. The climb is 1.2 km long.

Second climb – after Aid Station 4/5 at Dorothy, 2 km gradual climb, approximately 7 to 9% grade. ! Get ready for the best ride of the year!! #granfondo #badlands #drumheller #bike

The Alberta Badlands are truly spectacular and must be seen in person to truly be appreciated. Hoodoos take millions of years to form and stand 17 to 23 ft . They are a fascinating geological formation According to Blackfoot and Cree traditions, these rocks are petrified giants who come alive at night to protect their land by throwing stones at trespassers.

The Gran Fondo Badlands ride begins at the largest

The Gran Fondo Badlands ride begins at the largest (blue) Dinosaur in the world. Riders will head along the North Dinosaur Trail right past the Royal Tyrrell Museum to the 100 year old Bleriot ferry. From there depending on your distance, you will explore and experience the beautiful Drumheller Valley on your bike.

The roads along the route are in great shape with smooth pavement all the way around the course. 🚲
